HOW TO MAKE THESE PERFECT AIR FRYER BAKED POTATOES
Ingredients
- 2 large floury potatoes (eg: Maris Piper or King Edward), weighing approx. 250g to 270g each
- olive oil
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
- topping(s) of your choice
Instructions
- Rinse the potatoes in cold water, pat them dry with kitchen roll and then prick the skins all over with a fork or sharp knife. Rub them lightly with olive oil, sprinkle with some salt (salt helps to crispen the skins).
- Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 200C and cook for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a sharp knife goes through the potatoes easily. Check the potatoes after 20 minutes – if they seem to be browning too quickly on one side, turn them over using tongs, then check again after another 20 minutes to ensure they're cooked through. When ready, the skin should be crisp and the inside tender and fluffy. Split, season the inside with some salt and freshly ground black pepper, and serve immediately with the topping(s) of your choice.
Oven Instructions
- Heat the oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Rinse the potatoes in cold water, pat them dry with kitchen roll and then prick the skins all over with a fork or sharp knife. Rub them lightly with olive oil, sprinkle with some salt and then bake directly on the shelf in the oven for 1 hour. They might need a bit longer (15 to 30 minutes) if the potatoes are much bigger than 270g in weight.
