HOW TO MAKE THIS QUICK AND EASY GARLIC BAGUETTE
Ingredients
- 1 baguette (28cm long, weighing approx. 150g)
For the garlic butter:
- 100g salted butter, slightly soft
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 tbsp flat leaf parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Mix all the garlic butter ingredients together in a bowl. Wrap in cling film or baking paper, roll into a log and chill in the fridge for 10 minutes, until firm.
- Slice the baguette into about 12 slices but not all the way through, leaving the base intact to hold it together.
- Once the butter is firm, unwrap it and cut 12 x 0.5cm slices. Press a slice of butter into each of the cuts. Be careful as the bread will bend slightly into a semi-circle shape once you’ve put over half the butter slices in – press it carefully at each end to straighten it.
- If you have any butter leftover, wrap it back up and put it in the freezer. When you want to use it again, place it into the fridge to thaw a bit, but still remain firm for slicing.
- Wrap the baguette in foil, place on a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes. Unwrap the foil and cook for a further 5 minutes to crisp it up.
