Easy Greek Pasticcio, Easy Greek Pasticcio
Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

David found this easy greek pasticcio recipe on the Delicious magazine website when looking for something different to do with a pack of lamb mince.   We love pasta, lamb and feta cheese, so having them combined in one dish appealed!

The sun-kissed flavours of Greece are brought to your table with this easy pasticcio recipe.   Macaroni pasta is layered with a mediterranean tomato and lamb mince base and topped with creamy feta cheese.

This full of flavour pasta, lamb and creamy feta dish can be enjoyed at any time of the year...we're looking forward to eating it outside in the garden on a sunny day with a glass of wine, or 2!

Tips

  • Mediterranean seasoning is a blend of dried peppers, herbs and spices – try Bart Blends from larger supermarkets, Ocado or Amazon (see link below).
  • This easy greek pasticcio recipe is easily adapted if you’re cooking for more or less people.

  2. Add the Mediterranean seasoning and garlic to the pan and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes, half-fill the can with water, then add it to the pan with the oregano. Bring to the boil, then season and reduce the heat. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. For the topping - in a mixing bowl combine the yogurt, egg and half the feta. Season with pepper (feta is already salty).
  4. Cook the macaroni in a large pan of boiling salted water according to packet instructions (until just al dente). Drain, then spoon half into a deep ovenproof dish and season with salt and freshly ground pepper. Top with the mince, then add the remaining macaroni, pressing down with the back of a spoon.
  5. Spoon the yogurt topping over the pasta to cover, then scatter with the remaining feta to finish. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden and bubbling. Serve sprinkled with extra oregano, if you like.
