As well as being the baker in our house, David is also the burger master...and here's another delicious burger recipe for a buffalo turkey cheeseburger. He's tried a couple of different turkey burger recipes before, along with trying variations on recipes. This yummy buffalo turkey cheeseburger is a slightly adapted version of a recipe on the Cookidoo app for our Thermomix. The grated cheese, onion and chilli sauce added to the turkey mince gives the burger a great flavour. We don't find it to be overly spicy, however, if you want more heat you could always add some chilli flakes to the mixture. This buffalo turkey cheeseburger recipe is a must try with homemade brioche burger buns too!
Tips
- Additional toppings – because this burger has big flavours in it already, we decided to keep the additional toppings and sauce quite simple – salad leaves, slices of tomato and mayonnaise. However, the choice of toppings and sauces are entirely your personal choice…enjoy trying different combinations!
- Assembly – so that your burger and the toppings don't fall over, I'd suggest assembling as follows:
- salad leaves then slices of tomato on the bottom of the bun
- place the burger on top of the slices of tomato
- the mayonnaise goes on the bun lid and then place it on the top of the burger…and enjoy with some chunky oven chips or dirty fries
- With the ingredients that are added to the turkey mince, these end up as quite big burgers, so if you have smaller buns, you could divide the mixture into 8 smaller burgers...and have double buffalo turkey cheeseburgers!!

- additional toppings and sauces (optional) - see Tips
- chunky oven chips or dirty fries on the side (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the turkey mince, breadcrumbs, grated cheese, chilli sauce and finely chopped onions. Ensure it’s mixed well so that everything is evenly combined.
- Divide the mixture to form 4 burgers (see Tips). Place the burgers on a plate and refrigerate until you’re ready to cook them. Remove them from the fridge at least 30 minutes before you’re ready to cook.
- When you’re ready to cook, heat a large frying pan or grill pan (we use our Le Creuset grill pan) over a high heat. If you like your buns toasted, drizzle each half with some olive oil and place face down in the hot pan and let them toast to your liking – make sure they don’t burn. Remove and set aside while you cook the burgers.
- Now to cook the burgers, heat 3 tsp of olive oil in the pan and turn the heat down to medium.
- Season each side of the burgers with salt and freshly ground black pepper and then place them in the pan and cook for 3 minutes on each side.
- Finally, assemble your burger with any additional toppings and/or sauces (see Tips).
- Enjoy with chunky oven chips or dirty fries on the side!!
